Symbiotic Relationships - Mutualism

Every summer, this pot of flowers is encountered by lots of honey bees. Although there are no bees right now, in the summer they have many interesting interactions with the flowers. The symbiotic relationship that I see between both the flowers and the honey bees is Mutualism. The relationship falls under the Mutualism category, because both the organisms benefit from the interaction and get something out of it. The bee benefits because it gathers nectar from the flowers and converts it into honey.  In the process of collecting nectar, bees transfer  pollen that is on the flower and drops it onto another flower. This allows for pollination to occur. The flower benefits as well because this interaction effectively spreads the pollen to other flowers, allowing it to breed and spread its DNA. Therefore, this interaction between the organisms is a Mutualism relationship.
